Maiden of Insanity

One of my first recorded songs from early 2001, about being crushed by the weight of truth. In a fit of depression I skipped an electronics lab in college to record it, then next semester had to make up the lab to pass the course.

Download the mp3 (128kbps 4.3MB).

Lyrics:

I’ve been touched
By an angel of insanity.
I need an anchor to reality.
Will I find my way home
Or drown in the sea?
These crimson tides of madness…
Killing me.

I have kissed a Maiden of Insanity.
She broke my anchor to reality.
Never find my way home,
I’m lost in what I see.
Oh, all these words of truth are
Killing me.

They say what doesn’t kill you
Makes you stronger.
Well, I’m dying, baby —
Can’t carry on much longer.
No strength to believe in God,
No God to give me strength
My life has reached its length
Oh, all is … lost

Technical Trivia

Since it was one of my first computer-recorded songs, the sound quality is a bit shoddy. Just one rhythm guitar track, radioshack microphone, soundblaster card and its soundfont bank for the drums, and my Crate 15 watt amp. Highlight is the guitar solo, which took a while to nail down.
